Gion Kobu in Kyoto has a history of several hundred years. The special existence of "geisha" and "maiko" is made up of the best of Kyoto's various traditional crafts and performing arts. Preserving the unchanged geisha culture since ancient times leads to the passing on of precious traditional techniques.
Geiko and maiko are communication professionals, and their beauty comes not only from their appearance but also from within.
Experience the carefully handed down craftsmanship of the masters and the spirituality of the geisha and maiko who cherish every single gesture and courtesy, and experience the essence of the Japanese culture that Kyoto is so proud of around the world.Flower Street CultureInoue SchoolEtiquettewordingmaikogeishaLINK KYOTOhistoryHospitalityKyoto culturetraditional culture

A special project between JTB and Keihan Railway! Toast with sake brewers on a chartered train!
The history of sake brewing in Kyoto is long, dating back to the 5th century. There are many famous springs in Kyoto city, especially in Fushimi. The delicate and gentle flavors of Kyoto sake are produced from these waters. On the Kyoto Sake Train, you can compare 10 Kyoto brands of sake. A chef representing Fushimi will also oversee a bento lunch box that goes perfectly with the sake.A brewer will be on board and will talk about Kyoto sake, making for a special experience.
We were blessed with good weather on both days, and 449 customers participated in the four trips over the two days, making the event a great success!
We also thank you for your cooperation in filling out a questionnaire on the day and received a great deal of valuable feedback.
Thank you very much.
Please check your comments as they have been posted on the page.
We will use your suggestions for improvements as a reference for our next project.
The same event is planned for February 2025.
