  Why not experience the luxury of enjoying the colorful fresh greenery along the waterway from aboard a boat?

  The Lake Biwa Canal boat trip can be experienced for a limited period only, and includes the opportunity to see the green maples, which will soon be at their best.
  Enjoy a leisurely cruise along the canal surrounded by vibrant new greenery. Enjoy the special scenery that can only be experienced on this limited spring cruise.

  (※) The "Lake Biwa-Otsu Port" service ended after eight days from Thursday, March 27th to Sunday, March 30th and from Thursday, April 3rd to Sunday, April 6th.
  Currently it is the regular "Mii-dera delivery service."

   

  The great achievements of the Meiji era were achieved by connecting the thoughts of our predecessors.

  Kyoto rapidly declined after the Meiji Restoration due to the de facto transfer of the capital to Tokyo. The key to its revival was the construction of the Lake Biwa Canal. This unprecedentedly large project, which cost approximately twice the annual budget of Kyoto Prefecture at the time, was completed in 23 with the help of Japanese people alone, without relying on foreign engineers. Please enjoy the scenery of this Japan Heritage site, which is still loved even after about 1890 years.
