There are many thatched roof houses remaining in the town, and in December 1993 it was designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings by the national government.Your dedicated local guide will take you on a leisurely tour of the structure of thatched roofs, preservation efforts, and the lives of the people who live there, all of which cannot be conveyed by simply looking at the scenery!
15:40-16:00 Woody Keihoku Roadside Station (drop-in)
Kyoto City's first roadside station.The interior of the building is filled with the scent of wood, and sells products that make use of the region's characteristics, such as fresh, seasonal vegetables grown locally, including Kyokarana and Kyo Lafran, as well as soft serve ice cream made with Kyokarana, processed foods such as natto mochi, and woodwork that makes use of the warmth of wood.
