Kyoto Sightseeing Tour Special Project "Kyoto by the River" Guided Tour
A thousand-year-old city woven by water - Tadasu Forest and Sanjo/Shijo Bridge, a walking tour of the Kamo River scenery
From Demachiyanagi, gaze out at the confluence of the Kamo and Takano Rivers and take a stroll through the original landscape of Kyoto, a city that has developed alongside water. At Shimogamo Shrine, take the time to "feel and learn" about the history of ancient water worship and rituals, along with the pure waters of Tadasu no Mori. Walk south along the Kamo River, and you'll find traces of flood control from the Edo, Meiji, and Showa periods, as well as the history of the city shaped by the river, still alive today. After overlooking the kawadoko culture and the changing lifestyles of the people between Sanjo and Shijo, enjoy seasonal Kyoto cuisine at Fujita in Pontocho, and take a moment to quietly reflect on the culture and climate that has been woven together with the Kamo River. We'll guide you on a luxurious journey of walking, seeing, and tasting.
