Ritsumeikan University Campus Tour
- Learning about decarbonization from students' efforts -

Educational travel Inquiry program

This program is a special campus tour for elementary and junior high school students where they can see, learn, and experience carbon neutral efforts. The setting is Ritsumeikan University's Kinugasa Campus. University students will act as guides and provide a fun and easy-to-understand introduction to the behind-the-scenes of the eco-campus and the student-led efforts.

    ✅ Generate electricity using the power of the sun?
    Experience renewable energy through the solar panels installed on campus and a monitor that shows the amount of electricity generated in real time!

     

    Fallen leaves help grow vegetables!
    Visitors can see how fallen leaves and food scraps on campus are used to make leaf mold and compost, and how vegetables are grown in a farm. Experience the cycle of nature.

     

    "Mottainai" will change the future
    Composting unused food from the university cafeteria. A valuable experience that teaches the importance of food and ways to reduce waste.

     

    Sustainable Campus Tour with University Students
    Each group will be accompanied by a Ritsumeikan University student as a guide. This is a chance to get a feel for the university atmosphere while deepening your interest in the environment!

    ① Introduction to the university (studying at Ritsumeikan, extracurricular activities, etc.)
    ② What is decarbonization? (Slides for easy explanation)
    3. Let's take a look at solar panels! (Shitokukan)
    ④ Visit to the compost and leaf mold making site on campus (Uni Com/Kreis activity base)
    ⑤ Visit a new farm! (Kreis Farm)
    ⑥ Introducing the food circulation system at the university cafeteria (Zonshinkan)
    7. Visit the Library and Jury Court (a space for history and learning)
    Total time: 80 minutes (including 15 minutes walking time)

     

    *One Ritsumeikan student will guide each group of 10 people.

    *This program is open to elementary and junior high school students only. High school students are not allowed to participate.

●Summer holidays: Friday, August 8th to Monday, August 18th
●Winter holidays: 12/26 (Fri) to 1/5 (Mon)
●Entrance exam: 2/1 (Sun) - 2/9 (Mon) 3/7 (Sat)
●Graduation Ceremony: Friday, March 20th to Sunday, March 22nd
●Course registration institution: Friday, September 26th to Thursday, October 23rd
In addition to the above, there may be cases where we cannot accept your request due to circumstances at Ritsumeikan University.

Approximately 80 minutes (excluding meals and snacks)

*1 After the tour, you can use the university cafeteria from 13:10 onwards.

Usage overview

Application deadline
①Tour reservations will open in mid-January of the same year.
②Once the date of your visit is decided, first confirm whether or not you can be accommodated by phone or email (provisional reservation).
③Please submit the attached "Tour Application Form" at least 45 days prior to the tour (to make a reservation).
*Application form can be submitted at the same time as ②.
④ Based on the "Visit Application Form," we will recruit Ritsumeikan students who are available to work on the day of the visit.
⑤The number of Ritsumeikan students and details of the day will be sent by email approximately two weeks before the day of the event.

・This program is open to elementary and junior high school students only. High school students are not allowed to participate.
・If Ritsumeikan students cannot be secured or are unable to work due to illness, etc., university staff will provide guidance.
・Entry into the building is only permitted at designated locations during the tour.
・Please arrive on time for the tour start time
・The tour includes public roads. Please be sure to receive safety instructions in advance as there are heavy traffic areas and narrow roads.
・The student cafeteria is closed from 11:30 to 13:10. It is open outside of these times.
Student staff will only be available to guide you to the cafeteria.
